Lets Catch Up

Ok, so it's been a while since I've been on here. Well, the two school districts I'm subbing for have kept me busy with work just about every day. And my grandmother spent a lot of time in the hospital during the holidays, nothing too serious. But since I'm the only one who can say 'no I won't work today' and not get fired for it I got to take her for each surgery. So I know my way around the massive conglomerate know as UTMB now. She had cataracts in both eyes, a nerve she had to have numbed or something like that, and skin cancer removed from her nose. We went to the hospital at least 7 different times for her nose alone with all the pre-opps and plastic surgery that went with it. I think the worst one for me was getting her to the hospital by 5 am. And the most gruesome was actually having the cancer removed because they did it right there in the room. Thank God my aunt went with her for that one. I would have passed out. She almost did. And in the midst of hospital visits and working I was also getting the house in order for the holidays and our annual Christmas party. It wasn't easy, but I survived.

So there is a rumor at my mom's school of an opening in the high school. The history teacher I subbed for for a week may be leaving. It's not confirmed, but the moment it is I may just be putting in my name for the spot. I've also gone and done something that may not have been the brightest thing and may kill me before it's over. I got myself and my sister volunteered as co-superintendents of this year's bible school. We may be in over our heads, but we've complained for years about how bad bible school has gotten every year so it's time to shut up and put up I guess. My sister's terribly enthusiastic about it, which is unusual or her, so it might work. But in a few months my stress level is going to hit the roof. I'm slowly ending the addiction to eBay. I went back to elfwood and started looking at pretty pictures far more talented artists than myself have drawn and it really made me feel calm (I don't know why) and instead of spending hours and money on eBay I just spent hours and some disc space finding cool pics on elfwood. =) Well, I found what would have been a perfect job for me. Park ranger on Galveston Island! I know, perfect! The catch: (and I quote) Applicant must have technical knowledge of repair of machinery. I mean what the heck! Call in a mechanic when one of your vehicles breaks down. Unless knowing how to put more oil into a car or changing a flat tire is technical knowledge, I don't qualify. Oh well, the search continues.

Being around little kids with God knows how many germs, subbing for teachers who've gotten sick and subsequently left germs on everything I have to touch, and getting my sister from school, taking her to the doctor only to find out she had the flu and then taking her back to school and spending three days with her making sure she recovered has finally taken its toll on me. All the little sick germs have organized and rallied under one flag and are attacking. I can just hear them now. "She's weak, boys, CHARGE! Fear no Vitamin C, bring her down, get into the blood stream, keep her on the couch." Yes, I am fighting to keep the little bugs at bay, but I have the lovely scratchy throat, sinus pressure headaches, the sniffles and a fever. The fever isn't nearly as bad as my sister's 104 fever two weeks ago, but it's enough for me to know it's there. It really hit in force Saturday night, well actually I'd call it Sunday morning. I'm trying hard to knock it out before it gets too bad. Lots of orange juice, tomatoes and grits. =) So that's what's new with me. Oh, one more thing. I have now started a myspace page so if any of you guys are on there, look me up. And if you aren't, you should be! It's fun.
